City Regulation of Short-term Residential Rentals (STRs) Early in 2011 the city's Planning Commission invited stakeholders to form a working group to help draft a proposal for regulation of STRs within Austin. STRs vary widely, from a home owner who rents their house for a few days during ACL weekend, to a commercial enterprise that functions somewhat like a hybrid hotel, renting a residence short-term, 24/7, year round. Short-term is defined as 30 days or less. ZNA will continue to closely follow this process. Resources: |
