Tuesday Bike Route

This is the route I ride most Tuesday mornings.  It is almost ten miles and some hills are steep.

I put it up here just for general interest.  I do not know if would-be burglars have turned around when they saw me, but I like to tell myself that doing something is better than just crossing my fingers and holding my breath.

History
Barton Springs Baptist Church and Cemetery

"The Barton Springs Baptist Church Cemetery is one of the first African-American cemeteries in Central Texas. Its use began by 1866 and some of the people buried here were born before 1840. For many years, a rural wooden church stood at the front of the property. In the 1940s, the wooden building burned and was replaced by the cinder block one that stands today. After active use of the building stopped, the Barton Springs Baptist Church Heritage Association began preserving the cemetery. The site was zoned historic by the City of Austin in 1993."

60 Years of Planting a Green Future

Ten years ago, in 2000, the Zilker Elementary School community collected photos and documents recording the school's first 50 years. Most of the records are from PTA newsletters and annual reports, along with newspaper clippings and school correspondence.
